Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse for the Roses Collection, Review, Swatch & FOTD

Today I would like to step back from the holiday collection reviews craziness and appreciate a precious rose which reached me quiet late. It has been a ridiculous mistake from the post which was delivering all my packages from Lancôme to an online shop which I have never heard of. Amusingly nerve-wracking experience was over after we issued a complaint. Could you believe that this one took almost a month to come to me, within the country. Talk about 21st century and post in Germany being oh so reliable!

Have you noticed that Lancôme released five new lipsticks, each being designed and named after a type of rose? I find the idea so creative, especially because rose is in the logo of the brand...

Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse

The following board explains how they realized this fun idea. Five roses were selected to be turned into lipsticks. The leaves were analysed chromatically using a spectral photometer. It works by reflecting light on the surface and measuring the wave lengths. They were then analysed by using a software. By this method they claim to analyse not only the color but also the reflective properties of a certain shade. After the shade is prepared as lipstick, it is compared to the leaves to finalize the process.

Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse is named after a children's book author. Now what does this have to do with roses? Since this post started to become a technical and cultural journey, let me get into that shortly too. Countess of Ségur (Comtesse de Ségur), started writing stories at the age of 58  for her 17 grandchildren from 1850s to 1870s. She described a beautiful rose in her novel Les Petites Filles modèles. This book is still being read by many children in France today, although there are controversy about how fitting it is to today's values (read more about it here, it is very interesting, it seems there is punishment of all degrees in the book...). Long story short, there is a beautiful hybrid rose which is named after her description, calledRose Comtesse Ségur which is the inspiration rose behind this beautiful warm mid-toned pink lipstick.

Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse

I always remember my mother when I wear Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge lipsticks, she loved them at 90s and a few of them in her drawer. I would always steal them then smash them against the cover since I would be rushing to meet some friends or maybe I was just too careless. She would melt them and form them again. Sometimes my aunt melted a few lipsticks and mixed them together to make interesting shades, aah the memories.

Swatch: Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse

Below I am wearing Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse as the reminiscence of those days brings a smile to my face. I loved the formula back then and I still love it today. It is very pigmented and creamy. It doesn't dry out my lips and lasts long on a foody like me.  There are four more shades and I ordered another one of them but unfortunately the online store wrote me back saying they don't have it anymore. They seem to be in stock in USA at Lancôme's website. I will check out a few stores to catch a few more.

FOTD with Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge #246 Rose Comtesse

Check out #160 Rose Grand Amour (a bright red shade from the same collection) on She-lynx and Melanie too.

Final thoughts: Lovely and creative idea, great execution. I just feel like it was not advertised all that much? Love the formula and the shades, make sure to check them out.

Have you tried Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge? Which is your favorite shade?

Suqqu Christmas Kit B, featuring Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu, Review, Swatch & FOTD

It is no secret that Suqqu is one of my favorite brands of all time. I am especially in love with their eye shadow formula, which applies and layers so beautifully. The shimmer in these are very complex and can be worn by anyone at any age. I appreciate the subtle beauty of the permanent line but I am always waiting for that time of the year when glitters come out to play. Xmas!

Suqqu Christmas Kit B, featuring Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

This year for Holidays, Suqqu releases two Christmas kits. Similar to last year's offer, it consists of one full size eye shadow quad, two mini size cleansers. Last year there was a mini mascara in the kit and this year there is a lipstick compact instead, which I like even more. The kits include a clutch, which is great for travelling . Everything from the set fits in the bag. I find the designs of the cluthes better than last year's.

Christmas Kits differ in two aspects. The eye shadow quads and the color of the clutches are different. Kit A comes with a black clutch and Ex-22 Yukiichigo quad. Yukiichigo means "snow strawberry" and it has lovely pink and purple nuances. Aahh love! Thanks to a very kind friend, who had to drop to Selfridges counter on a Saturday morning, I laid my hands on that one too! Kit B comes with Ex-23 Tsukianzu (lunar apricot), which is a more natural and smokier quad. I would like to thank PR for writing the meaning of the names for each quad next to press infos. In the past I made funny guesses which amused everyone who could speak Japanese. Here is a full list of products which come with Suqqu Christmas Kits A or B:

  • Suqqu Blend  Color Eye Shadow Palette
    • Kit A: Ex-22 Yukiichigo
    • Kit B: Ex-23 Tsukianz
  • Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist Compact Ex-13 (repromoted from A/W 2013)
  • Suqqu Reset Cleansing Cream (40 g)
  • Suqqu Refining Foam (30 g)

Products that come with Suqqu Christmas Kit B

Suqqu Refining Foam and Reset Cleansing Cream are great for travelling during holiday season. The lipstick compact is very pretty, the lipstick itself enhances the color of the lips. I found out that it applies better with a brush than with fingers. Check out FOTD at the end of this post to see it in action.

Now let me start with the life of the party, Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu. This year both of the quads have one cream and three powder shades. I usually don't like cream and powder products so close to one another. With Suqqu's formula though, I can live with it because the powder almost has a gel consistency, it doesn't become powdery during application. The cream eye shadow in Tsukianzu has an interesting consistency, It is rather dense and a little sticky which sounds not that positive at once but it applies beautifully and does stay on the lids for a very long time. One of the strengths of Suqqu's formula for me is its long wear time on my lids. I have tested this particular quad for over 14 hours and I had no creasing nor fading. The only minor issue after 14 hours was a little bit of fall out of the glitter around the eyes, so to hold them in place, I recommend to apply the cream eye shadow over a primer.

Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

The shades look complex in the pan without even touching and after the play time, I was smitten with how unique they are. Glitters are mainly concentrated in the cream shade (bottom left). The upper shades have both lovely shimmers and light reflective properties. All of these are very hard to capture with the camera so I tried to take photos with and without flash. Most of the light play starts when you are exposed to a low light, such as the one of the rest room. During the day light the effect is mostly like "wet looking" lids with subtle shimmer. And yes this is why I end up visiting the rest room during the day more often than usual, to check out the beautiful shimmer! Last time when I wrote this many of you could relate to that which made me more confident to share it this time around ;-)

Close-up: Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

The shades in Ex-23 Tsukianzu are as follows:

Upper left: Light champagne with shimmery finish. It is a great shade as an all over color or on the inner lid to open up the eyes. It can also be layered on other shades to make them appear lighter.

Upper right: Mid-toned bronze with complex shimmer. This shade is a show stopper on its own. It is natural yet the the shimmer is so pretty, love!

Bottom right: Semi-opaque light ivory shade. This is close to the base shades of the latest quads. If you would like to use the cream as a liner or just around the lash line for a smoke look without crease definition, it makes sense. However since I like to define my crease, I use the cream shade either on the outer V or all about the lid (as I have done below). I wouldn't use this powder base for the cream shade in that case. I use it to blend everything up the crease though, and it works lovely.

Bottom left: Star of the show, a deep cool brown with very complex shimmer. The shimmer transferred on the lids homogeneously and looks very lovely. It gives a sort of "wet" look as if the drops of water are reflecting the light if that makes sense. It can be used as a liner or over a part of the lid. I prefer the latter.

Swatch: Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

I tried to capture how lovely the glitters are but it seems it is impossible without using a flash. Hence below you can see my effort with flash. To warn though, I couldn't even capture the half of the glitter party with the camera. For the eye look, I applied the cream shade all over the lid. I then used champagne on the inner third and bronze on the outer two third. I blended the look with the case shade over the crease.

In-action: Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

Here is how it looks combined with Suqqu Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist Compact Ex-13 from the set. Since I used the bronze shade on top, it all looks warm and natural. Silvery cool shimmers show up under light, making it very pretty and unique.

Rest of the face: YSL Fusion Ink Foundation (B20), Rouge Bunny Rouge Impalpable Finishing Powder in Diaphanous, Dior Hydra Concealer (#01), Dior My Lady Blush in Pink.

FOTD with Suqqu Christmas Kit B, featuring Blend Color Eye Shadow Ex-23 Tsukianzu

Final thoughts: Natural, unique and pretty in an understated way, this is how I would describe Suqqu Christmas Kit B. These are hard to get hold of but definitely worth hunting.

Availability/Price: Suqqu Christmas Kits are released at Selfridges last weekend but they haven't made it to Selfridges online yet. This weekend they will be available at Fenwick in Bond Street if you are living in London. Alternatively you can give them a call. A Suqqu counter is also opened this months in Harrods, so you may also call or visit them. Christmas Kits cost £58 each.

Are you eyeing any of these kits? How do you find combined offers of the brands this time around?

Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity. Is the Hype worth it? Review Swatch & Comparison

$

It might be the prettiest eye shadow palette designed, like ever. The time photos starting spreading the internet, it has been one of the most talked, most wanted. After its debut at Barney's New York, I was able to get my hands on it thanks to a dear friend. I could play with it the last week and here is my answer to that question, is it worth the hype?

Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity

This has to be mentioned, the stars were not aligned for me and my palette came with the lightest shade cracked and spread over the other shades. I made a rescue attempt by pressing back the defect part, which worked very good since the powder is very smooth and loosely pressed. I also tried to clean the rest of the palette to take photos but I didn't want to waste too much product while doing so. Here is the result, I find it gorgeous nevertheless.

Packaging/Weight:
It is an impressive design, breath taxingly beautiful and modern. The compact is also very nice and sleek, great to travel with. If you wonder how it compared to blush or face powder palettes, here I posted a size comparison. It looks smaller but still close to the blush palette. Blush palette has 3.2 g of product and eye shadow palette has only 5 g of product. With its $58 price tag, it is close to Chanel and Dior.

EDIT: I am changing the text above, thanks to a lovely reader now we know it is 5 g in total, not 1 g as I thought it is! Phew, I feel much better about this product!

Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity

Below you can see a close up of the palette and corresponding swatches. Although the palette appears brown in the photos, once swatched, it has more of a mauve/taupe hue. None of the shades I would call to be too warm nor too cool, so all in all it is a natural palette which is only slightly cool. It is composed of four matte hues and one complex shimmery finish. It will certainly please matte lovers.

Left most: Very light off-white with matte finish. It is a great shade to highlight under the brow bone without adding shimmer.

2nd from left: Light mauve with matte finish. It is a great transition color just above the socket for me.

Middle: The most gorgeous mid-toned pink/purple taupe with ver complex shimmer. I would like to bath in this shade, give me more. Lovely all over the eye. Be aware though, it is rather a darker shade, so if you don't like smokey eyes, or darker eye makeup, it may not be your favorite after all.

2nd from right: Mid toned natural brown with matte finish. I like this shade to deepen the crease and add an dimension to the outer corner. It can also be mixed with the deepest shade to get any intensity you might like.

Right most:Very deep brown with a tad of plum. This shade also has matte finish. I like the pigmentation in that one, it can be used as a liner or further deepening of the socket. It provides enough drama.

Swatch and close up of Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity

Application notes:

I was a little underwhelmed during swatching since the shades appeared to be powdery to touch and a little sheer. Most of the swatches above are multiple swipes to get the intensity. During the application on the eyes however, I really liked the consistency. I use a very dense and flexible brush (would you like to read a favorite brushes post soon?). Dense layering brush picked up enough color and color pay-off is great on the eyes. The shimmer of the middle shade is rather low-key.

Eye makeup:
Below I am wearing the lightest shade under the brow bone and on inner corner, 2nd lightest as a transition color above the socket. Middle shade all over the lid, mid-brown on the socket and outer corner which I intensified with the darkest shade. On the eyes I love the application and the result since mauve shades flatter my skin tone and eye color. If you are close to me in that sense, you might love the color selection of Infinity.

In-action: Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity

Here is the eye look in context. I am wearing Tom Ford Wicked on the cheeks and Tom Ford Matte Lip Color in Plum Lush on the lips. I was told to wear more bold lipsticks and here we go. I will review this one very soon together with Black Orchid. Just take it as a sneak peak now *wink wink*

FOTD: Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity

Comparison to similar palettes:

First two palettes which came to my mind was Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage and Urban Decay Naked Basics 2. Naked Basics 2 was too taupe/cool once compared and had nothing to do with Infinity, Check out the photo here at Instagram. So the question, I have Naked Basic 2, is it a dupe, answer: not even close!

That said Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity is like a tad more mauve version of Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage, which is very close at 3 shades. Only the shimmery shade is warmer in Cocoa vs. cooler more rose/plum in Infinity. I find the intensity and quality of Tom Ford much better, and as I mentioned above it is much cheaper. Nevertheless on me Infinity is more flattering because of its mauve undertones. Cocoa Mirage (reviewed here) doesn't work all that well on my complexion.

Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity vs. Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage.
Swatch comparison: Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity vs. Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage.

Since Urban Decay Naked Basic 2 was proved to be very different, I decided to check out Naked 3, which has mauve/pink tones such as Infinity's. You don't have all the shades exactly as they are in Infinity in Urban Decay Naked 3, but you can certainly get a similar effect. Below I tried to reconstruct Infinity by using some shades from Naked 3. As you see they are pretty close but Naked 3 has less matte shades which in the end makes a slight difference. The overall eye look with Infinity is more matte, less in shimmer but with Naked 3 you get more frost, more shimmer.

Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity vs. Urban Decay Naked 3
Swatch comparison: Hourglass Modernist Eye Shadow Palette Infinity vs. Urban Decay Naked 3

I hope the comparisons were useful. Check out Lola's blog for more swatches and information.

Final thoughts: If you like mauve undertones, matte textures and if you want to splurge on something very pretty but extremely expensive, than go ahead and get Infinity. To me it is not a must have. The price point is same as Chanel, Dior for the amount of product you get 5 g (1 g x5), the shade in this particular palette is rather dupable.

Availability/Price: Right now it is available online at Barney's (link is not affiliated). It costs $58 and it should be available at other retailers at the beginning of next year, together with other colors in Spring.

Do you think how much product you get is important or do you say we never finish a product anyway? I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

A-England Elizabeth & Mary Collection, Gloriana, Virgin Queen, Fotheringhay Castle, Queen of Scots, Crown of Thristles, Review & Swatches

Pretty nail polishes always make my heart skip a beat. What could be a better day than a so-called Mani-Monday to check out a-england's last collection. I have presented you Burne-Jones Dream Collection back in June 2013. A-england doesn't bring out many collections but when they do, all the shades have very good quality. I really appreciate this more than pushing collections all the time with less quality or inspiration. That said I haven't reviewed a-england's Ballerina Collection which was released right after Burne-Jones but they all appeared almost the same on my fingers, so ended up not being very convinced of that one.

Now back to Elizabeth & Mary Collection, which is just released... This one is my absolute favorite of a-england within the last collections they released. Just keep on reading to see ho pretty these are.

A-England Elizabeth & Mary Collection

Fotheringhay Castle is a mid-toned olive green nail polish with metallic holographic finish. It has great finish, almost a one-coater like many other a-england polishes. The holographic effect is strong, especially under the direct sun light. The consistency is very good, it is self leveling and I don't see any brush strokes after the application.

A-England Fotheringhay Castle

Virgin Queen is one of my favorites. It is such a complex chameleon shade which is so difficult to explain. I would call it a deep cool bronze with metallic holographic finish. In reality it is more than that though. It flashes almost all colors over a seriously pretty base. Zoom in this photo and you will see the multi colored shimmer. Loving this one so much. It has great consistency, I applied two coats for this photo but I could get along with one too.

A-England Virgin Queen

Crown of Thristles is a mid-toned warm purple with strong holographic effect. Even under shadow, this looks very pretty but it is when all th shimmer comes to play under the light, it shows its real beauty. I don't have to say this is my absolute favorite of the collection, together with Virgin Mary. You know, I can't say no to purple and when it is so complex and pretty is... so in love. Great consistency, lovely finish, below I am wearing two coats. Oh yes and I am trying these lines with Crown of Thristles on my fingers.

A-England Crown of Thristles

Queen of Scots is the only disappointment for me from this collection. It is supposed to be a great dark blue with subtle metallic effect. I like dark blues and wear them very often but this shade was a little too ordinary among all the other bling bling, still nice but nothing we haven't see of. And it is important to note that it stains, which is the main reason why it probably never make it on my fingers other than swatching here below because it took me long to remove it. Not recommended. Below I applied two coats.

A-England Queen of Scots

Gloriana is a true stunner. Even for a "rather not have red on the nails" girl like me. Gloriana must be the most stunning and complex red nail polish I own. It has a similar effect to a-england Excalibur (2nd version, reviewed here), with foil metallic finish and two noticeable shades (red and gold in this case) in the shadow (see the second photo below). These both glow like fire under the sun giving a beautiful complex shimmer. Below you can see it in two coats. This one is certainly one of the highlights of the collection. It is not holographic but in my book, it is even better!

A-England Gloriana (under sun light)
A-England Gloriana (in shadow)

Final thoughts: Love love love this collection, a-england really nailed it this time. My picks are Virgin Queen, Crown of Thristles and Gloriana. The only one I would't recommend is Queen of Scots which is a little staining. Make sure to snag at least one or two, these are worth it!

Availability/Price: You can check the local stores to buy a-england at their website here, under "where to buy". I purchased mine from Lovely Cosmetics but if you are in Germany you can as well go for Pshiit Boutique or Le Doux Nuage from France. It might be less expensive depending on the size of the order. Each of the nail polishes retail around 10€.

Which one is your favorite? Have you tried a-england before?

Burberry Winter Glow Collection of Holiday 2014, Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold, Nail Polish #447 in Gold, Review, Swatch & FOTD

Burberry is a brand which is so close to my heart. Although the pieces of their Winter Glow Collection for Holiday 2014 won't be hitting the stored in Germany, I went ahead and ordered two pieces from their online store. Here are my picks from Burberry's interpretation of a festive look in an understatedly beautiful way. With my own words, trench of gold and festive season.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold, Nail Polish #447 in Gold

Winter Glow Collection is designed by consultant make-up artist Wendy Rowe and Chief Creative Director (and CEO) Christopher Bailey. There are two color focus, one being the signature shade of Burberry, Oxblood and the other one is gold. I was mostly intrigued by the gold look since the shade of gold looked very unique. The heart of both of the looks is a new palette, Burberry Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold. Winter Glow Collection comes in limited edition package for new as well as repromoted products. The package is silver gold, which looks very minimalistic yet luxurious. To me it is one of the best holiday packaging within the collections I have reviewed.

Burberry  Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Four shades making up the palette are very natural and they cover the spectrum from cool to warm. The pigmentation of the palette is good, it is sheerer than Nude Blush and Slate Blue. It has more shimmer than Mocha or is more pigmented than Pink Taupe. Although it is named as "Gold", I would define the range of shades as "taupe and copper" and the combination is unique and very pretty.

Burberry  Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Almost all the shades are shimmery, meaning they are shimmery in Burberry way, which is not over the top. The darkest shade is a satin but has less shimmer than the rest of the shades.

Top right (small pan): A very light grey taupe with shimmery finish. It is not too cool nor warm, not frosty. I like this shade for the inner corner to brighten up the eyes and once used sparingly, it also makes a nice brow bone highlight.

Middle right (large pan): Mid-toned silvery taupe with satin to shimmery finish. This shade pulls rather cool and on me it even takes a slight green hue once applied on the lids. I like using it all over the lid.

Middle left (large pan): Mid-toned bronzed copper with satin to shimmery finish. This shade is wonderful to apply all over the lid especially if you find the taupe too cool. It has enough warmth in it and it is really intense and pigmented. I used this shade on the crease and outer corner for the first look I tried (see below) and fell in love with it.

Bottom left (small pan): Deep warm brown with satin finish. It is great on the crease, or outer lid. It can also be used as an eye liner. It is dark enough for drama too.

Close-up: Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold
Swatch: Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

For the look below, I applied the lightest shade on the inner corner, silvery taupe all over the lid. Then I used the copper shade on the outer corner and deepened the crease with the darkest shade from the palette. It turned out to be a very natural and cool eye because of silver. But you can as well go for a more intense and warm eye by using copper more extensively.

In-action: Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Excuse me for smiling sarcastically here, I was meant to be more friendly *grins* Anyhow, here is the look in context. I am also wearing Burberry Earthy blush and the pink blush from MAC Simpsons Collection, together with MAC Frank'n Furter as stain on the lips.

FOTD with Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

My other pick from the collection is Burberry Nail Polish #447 in Gold. It is such a lovely taupe/nude shade. I wouldn't call it a gold. The finish is very unique. It is not shimmery nor metallic nor cream. It has lovely and apparent shimmer which becomes more prominent under sun light and can still be seen in the shadow. It makes #447 Gold a very unique nail polish, one of its kind. I don't have anything close to this finish. It is perfectly opaque in two coats and applies beautifully. I like the consistency too.

Burberry Nail Polish #447 in Gold (sun)

I would say if you can get along with mushroomy nudes, with some cool undertones, you will like #447 Gold. As for all the others, make sure to check it out first. It is definitely the most unique shade of this Holiday Season in terms of finish and color.

Burberry Nail Polish #447 in Gold (shadow)

Here is my take on Burberry Winter Glow Collection. There is also a lovely highlighter with notes of My Burberry Fragrance. Indigo Kir Royale has great swatches and comparisons of that one, so check out her post here. There is also new Lip Mist and Lip Glow both in shade Gold in limited edition gold packaging.

My Take On Burberry Winter Glow Collection of Holiday 2014

Final thoughts: Burberry's very modern take on gold for upcoming holiday season is gorgeous. I highly recommend checking both of these pieces out. The eye shadow palette is especially flattering on cooler or natural skin tones and fairer ladies. I think the nail polish is must have since it is very unique both in color and finish.

What do you think of this subtler approach to gold? Are you eyeing anything from this collection?

Guerlain's Christmas Collection this year is one of my favorite. I am especially loving Petrouchka Palette and the golden nail polish with foil finish. I was initially not interested in limited edition Rouge G #820 Rouge Parade but after feeling the hype about it and seeing it literally flying off the shelves, I started thinking about getting it. Then I have read a review on a "big blog" stating this is very close to Tom Ford Vampire Kiss, my favorite red at the moment, I decided to get one without swatching since there were no testers at the counter, just to find out that it has nothing to do with Vampire's Kiss. It is like not even close...

Until now I haven't made plans other than hitting the MAC Counter tomorrow early to catch the bronze pigment which I missed when it was sold out during the first hours of online release. I am going to also check out Lancome Counter in Breuninger and see if they have already received the Holiday Collection. Today I would like to share you two of the products I received with you. I hope you are all having a great weekend. Today I woke up early to get the only MAC pigment kit I was missing from Breuninger, the bronze one. Oh good make-up lord, why do you make it so complicated. I went there early just to hear that Bronze set was an online exclusive. I dragged myself through the city to overcome my sorrow and ended up buying some boots and books. When I came home a beyond deer friend offered me to send hers, yay! I love happy endings.

Social Media is shaking with the news of mini Tom Ford lipsticks which will be released in 50 limited editions shades online for one single day, then these will eventually make it to stores as well. After I learn more about the availability of these in Germany, I will let you know. At the moment, it seems to be US and Selfridges (UK) release. Needless to say I have already made my list, hah!

Back to the subject shall we? Today it is about my ever growing Tom Ford lipstick collection and two more mattes to present. Check out my previous reviews of Pink Tease, First Time and Pussycat. And let me introduce you to Tom Ford Lip Color Matte #05 Plum Lush and #10 Black Dahlia.

I know I am late to the party but I have just seen that almost all the pieces I would like to talk about today are still available online, so I would like to make sure you are not missing anything. When it comes to MAC I had been a bad girl this year and ended up hauling for each collection. My favorites were Alluring Aquatics, Moody Blooms, Pedro Lourenco and Osbournes. When Heirloom Mix was first announced and swatches started appearing, I was a little unsure about what to get. As much as I liked the packaging, nothing was calling my name. I decided to get the hyped items and stop there. (Victorian Plum and Enchantment Pressed Pigments, Salon Rouge lipstick). When I have seen the collection in person though, the following (and much more) happened...

I hope you are all having a good start in the week. I was very much stressed at the end of last one, but this started to be fine. Let's see how it ends.

On the beauty front, Smashbox released their jewel themed "On The Rocks" Collection for Holiday. I had the chance to try out one of the palettes from the collection, which is my first Smashbox product ever. I have learned that they are more known for their base products. If you haven't tried their Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette yet, you may want to keep on reading.

Each year Laura Mercier releases lovely sets during holiday season. This year there are several eye and face palettes for travels, brush collection as well as a mini caviar stick set.

But to me holiday is the time all that glitters come out to play! Sooo when I noticed their new and limited "Eye Glace" last time when I visited the counter and I was intrigued by it since it looked and swatched like nothing I own and it blinked like nothing else! It comes together with a mini eye kohl and a mini black mascara.

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I have lots to do even on the weekends once the end of the year is getting closer, so I am a little bit stressed even on Sundays, what a bummer. Nevertheless I didn't want to hold back from one product I would like to show you today. It is MAC Casual Color in Red Obsessed from upcoming Red Red Red Collection, which will be released at the end of December in USA and in February elsewhere. I love the idea of having a collection named after a color and I am wishing for a purple collection right after that one! Good news is that there are many shades of red in Red Red Red Collection, so even if you are not a fan of red, you will find something in there.

Drugstore make-up haven't been one of the things I focused since I started blogging. The reason for it was not because I was not buying any but because I didn't find them very exciting to show or write about. Each post requires various hours from shopping to photography, trying out products to writing. Be it drug store or high end, some of the products I purchased out of curiosity have never made it to blog posts because I was not convinced that I would like to put so much effort in them, just to write that they don't work for me.

Two weeks ago something happened. A new drug store product knocked me off my feet. So today it is about them, Max Factor Excess Shimmer cream eye shadows.

Giorgio Armani Orient Excess Palette for Holiday 2014, Review, Swatch & FOTD

You might have noticed that I was silent a few days. This is what happens if your company sends you for training at a hotel which has a free casino entrance. Last time I gambled was eight years ago, so I thought I can give it another shot. I know the topic is taboo for some, but here is my approach, gamble small amounts and leave the game before everything is gone. I invested three cinema tickets to start with, left with seven of them, more than the double. Only works if you wait some years before you gamble again, beginner's luck is real (last time I have won as well!). Oh and be sure not to drink too much. Those drunk guys who must have realized I was sober were also investing on my box on black jack. They must be thanking me as well *grins*. There was one who asked for additional card after hitting black jack, can you imagine? Never drink and gamble ;-)

Giorgio Armani's Holiday Palette Orient Excess is one of my last reviews of this season. It is an interesting one, very different from others that I have reviewed so far. It has no sparkles and the shade selection is very wearable. Today I would like to tell you how I feel about it...

Burberry Mascaras, Effortless, Curve Lash and Bold Lash, Review & Comparison

I hope you are all having a great weekend. I managed to overlook all the black Friday sales since I shelled out all my money to Tommy's boys. A girl can never have enough boys right?

I have been testing the new mascaras of Burberry for a few weeks now. I have learned some time ago that mascaras has to be tested at least for a week before they start holding curl. In the beginning they don't work all that well on me. As they dry down a little, they start holding the curve better.

Burberry added two more mascaras to their line recently. They used to have the Effortless Mascara, which has a transparent modern tube. New ones, Curve Lash and Bold Lash Mascaras have metallic look on the tube, similar to the Burberry compacts. They are most probably the most chic mascara in terms of packaging I have tried. But yet again, we know that there is nothing like Burberry packaging.

That one palette, it is so pretty in the pan that after posting one picture in Instagram, I have received multiple e-mails asking for where to get it. That one palette which looks like it combined the stars from purple night sky and cotton candy from our childhood memories. Suqqu Blend Color Eye Shadow EX-22 Yukiichigo must be the prettiest palette of the season, even if you just look at it...

Christmas time, scent of spice in the air, in your cookie, in your tea, in the hot wine you drink. It is black, getting dark too soon but the lights on the streets, illumination at your neighbour's garden, and their reflection on the snow guides you home. Holidays are almost there, a warm scent which covers you like a blanket would keep your spirit up. It is spicy, it is woody, sophisticated but simple and as niche as it gets. Today I present you Lanoé Eau de Parfum in Black.
