Burberry is a brand which is so close to my heart. Although the pieces of their Winter Glow Collection for Holiday 2014 won't be hitting the stored in Germany, I went ahead and ordered two pieces from their online store. Here are my picks from Burberry's interpretation of a festive look in an understatedly beautiful way. With my own words, trench of gold and festive season.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold, Nail Polish #447 in Gold

Winter Glow Collection is designed by consultant make-up artist Wendy Rowe and Chief Creative Director (and CEO) Christopher Bailey. There are two color focus, one being the signature shade of Burberry, Oxblood and the other one is gold. I was mostly intrigued by the gold look since the shade of gold looked very unique. The heart of both of the looks is a new palette, Burberry Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold. Winter Glow Collection comes in limited edition package for new as well as repromoted products. The package is silver gold, which looks very minimalistic yet luxurious. To me it is one of the best holiday packaging within the collections I have reviewed.

Burberry  Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Four shades making up the palette are very natural and they cover the spectrum from cool to warm. The pigmentation of the palette is good, it is sheerer than Nude Blush and Slate Blue. It has more shimmer than Mocha or is more pigmented than Pink Taupe. Although it is named as "Gold", I would define the range of shades as "taupe and copper" and the combination is unique and very pretty.

Burberry  Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Almost all the shades are shimmery, meaning they are shimmery in Burberry way, which is not over the top. The darkest shade is a satin but has less shimmer than the rest of the shades.

Top right (small pan): A very light grey taupe with shimmery finish. It is not too cool nor warm, not frosty. I like this shade for the inner corner to brighten up the eyes and once used sparingly, it also makes a nice brow bone highlight.

Middle right (large pan): Mid-toned silvery taupe with satin to shimmery finish. This shade pulls rather cool and on me it even takes a slight green hue once applied on the lids. I like using it all over the lid.

Middle left (large pan): Mid-toned bronzed copper with satin to shimmery finish. This shade is wonderful to apply all over the lid especially if you find the taupe too cool. It has enough warmth in it and it is really intense and pigmented. I used this shade on the crease and outer corner for the first look I tried (see below) and fell in love with it.

Bottom left (small pan): Deep warm brown with satin finish. It is great on the crease, or outer lid. It can also be used as an eye liner. It is dark enough for drama too.

For the look below, I applied the lightest shade on the inner corner, silvery taupe all over the lid. Then I used the copper shade on the outer corner and deepened the crease with the darkest shade from the palette. It turned out to be a very natural and cool eye because of silver. But you can as well go for a more intense and warm eye by using copper more extensively.

In-action: Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

Excuse me for smiling sarcastically here, I was meant to be more friendly *grins* Anyhow, here is the look in context. I am also wearing Burberry Earthy blush and the pink blush from MAC Simpsons Collection, together with MAC Frank'n Furter as stain on the lips.

FOTD with Complete Eye Palette #25 in Gold

My other pick from the collection is Burberry Nail Polish #447 in Gold. It is such a lovely taupe/nude shade. I wouldn't call it a gold. The finish is very unique. It is not shimmery nor metallic nor cream. It has lovely and apparent shimmer which becomes more prominent under sun light and can still be seen in the shadow. It makes #447 Gold a very unique nail polish, one of its kind. I don't have anything close to this finish. It is perfectly opaque in two coats and applies beautifully. I like the consistency too.

I would say if you can get along with mushroomy nudes, with some cool undertones, you will like #447 Gold. As for all the others, make sure to check it out first. It is definitely the most unique shade of this Holiday Season in terms of finish and color.

Here is my take on Burberry Winter Glow Collection. There is also a lovely highlighter with notes of My Burberry Fragrance. Indigo Kir Royale has great swatches and comparisons of that one, so check out her post here. There is also new Lip Mist and Lip Glow both in shade Gold in limited edition gold packaging.

My Take On Burberry Winter Glow Collection of Holiday 2014

Final thoughts: Burberry's very modern take on gold for upcoming holiday season is gorgeous. I highly recommend checking both of these pieces out. The eye shadow palette is especially flattering on cooler or natural skin tones and fairer ladies. I think the nail polish is must have since it is very unique both in color and finish.

What do you think of this subtler approach to gold? Are you eyeing anything from this collection?
