It must be the destiny of beauty bloggers to wear fall lipsticks in summer, put on pastel springy eye shadows in winter and walk around with golden sparkles in fall. As Chanel Camélia de Plumes goes, I am not complaining a bit, because it is the most gorgeous highlighter for each season which I would like to share with you today.

Camélia de Plumes is the star of Chanel's Plumes Précieuses Holiday 2014 Collection. It was summer when the first sneek peak photos started floating forums and social media. It was a true attention catcher. It quickly became one of the most awaited items. The design is truly breath taking. If last highlighter from Chanel was out of this world, this one must be sent directly from heaven.

Although it may look like a palm tree, the name suggests that these are "Camelia Feathers". I love the fact that this is a little surreal, feathers of a Camelia bird which flew far far away so long ago.

Another interesting fact about Camélia de Plumes is its shade. It is said to be platinum by Chanel but I think it is much more complex than that. In the pan it looks very cool and silvery but once swatched and compared it pulls rather warm, almost gold. Like a white gold, a natural gold. It is beautiful and I believe it can be worn by both warm and cool complexions and would look equally flattering.

Below you can see a close up of the make-up I shared with you here. Thanks so much on the comments about my lipstick, it sounded like I need to go bold on the lips more often. You can see Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder applied heavily on the top of the cheeks. And yes it is a heavy application for it to show up on the camera. You see it is in no way frosty although very pigmented. Under artificial light, the effect is stronger than what you see here but still not over the top. Seriously this highlighter surprised me in a good way, a very good way and it is probably the only piece which impressed me from Chanel's holiday collection until now, since I find the rest of the collection rather unspectacular and a little uncoordinated.

Here is some comparisons, I have pulled out Chanel Poudre Signee (still a favorite of mine), Armani Belladonna and a discontinued shade Joues Contraste #49 Luna from Chanel for a comparison.I was especially wondering how Camelia de Plumes would compare to Luna, since Luna is the whitest powder/highlighter I have.

As you see in the swatches, it turns out Chanel Camélia de Plumes is not white, not platinum nor silver. It is a silvery gold, like white gold if that makes sense. This slight warmth to its undertones makes it very wearable. The texture is similar to Armani Belladonna, very pigmented, finely milled and yet not frosty. Aah how I wished they would make a fol finish nail polish which looks like this and include it in the collection... Wouldn't it be better than another red?

Here is one more shot. I haven't said this for a Chanel product for ages but, ladies, you need it!! Even at this price point. Once you put it on, you will know what I mean.

Final thoughts: Love love love! If you can afford it, it is a must-have in my book. It is the only piece from Chanel Holiday 2014 which made my heart skip a beat. Chanel Camélia de Plumes is not just a pretty face, its quality and this shade makes it a staple.
Availability/Price: Chanel holiday is now available in US and it is about to arrive worldwide soon. It costs $76 but Chanel highlighters costs more in US so I believe it will be more reasonably priced in Europe.
