What I have for you today is super pretty. The hearts must have stopped at the time the first promo pictures were released... It is... YSL's Flower Crush Palette from their Spring 2014 Collection.

Yves Saint Laurent Flower Crush Palette Rosy Blush Blush Duo

The outer design of it made me sigh before I ever opened the compact to see the blush. It is scattered modern pink figure on YSL's signature golden compact, so slim and elegant.

Once you open the compact, you see the gorgeous irregular design, not only in terms of lines reaching the center but also randomly scattered pink shade on peach back ground. If you move it under yellow/low light, you see the reflections of multi colored shimmer on the surface winking at you, inviting you to touch it. But you are afraid to do so. Such a heartbreakingly happy moment if there is such a thing. I think this palette turned me into a poet, seriously...

If you ever find the courage to spoil this beauty, you end up with a very sheer, pink highlighter carrying that multi colored shimmer in a gorgeous way. wait a minute, wasn't this supposed to be a blush? You read once more what is written on the compact "Fower Crush Palette Rosy Blush". You read further "Blush Duo". Duo? Blush?

You start searching for the meaning of all these words. They can only be a kind of secret to be solved, in another mysterious world, which this beautiful compact already took you. In this world, you don't take words seriously nor literally. Who cares what it is called? It is super pretty and it shines like no other does, so why bother.

Swatch: Yves Saint Laurent Flower Crush Palette Rosy Blush Blush Duo

Yes I said it does shine like no other. Let me try to show you that... *Pulls out some similar highlighters and blushes from her stash*: Chantecaille, Les Petales de Rose, which must have been my favorite rose toned highlighter to date, MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Adored, which I fell in love after Cafe Make-up's review here, one of my lightest blushes Chanel's newly released Joues Contraste in #86 Discretion (reviewed here and here) and YSL gorgeous highlighter from one of my favorite collection of theirs (Holiday 2012), Boreal Palette Polar Light.

Comparison to similar highlighters and blushes: Yves Saint Laurent Flower Crush Palette

Below they are swatched from lightest to darkest. You see that even my lightest blush is darker than Flower Crush. Chantecaille Les Petales de Rose is slightly lighter, MAC Adored is more beige/peach,  Discretion is a tad darker. The closest shade is Chanel's Discretion, which also has very similar shimmer, but not as pretty as Flower Crush. It is hard to capture the shimmer under low light, so I highly recommend checking this out in person.

Also see Silverkis' review here, she was able to build up the color and says it can be used as a blush! I should work harder it seems. ;-)

Final thoughts: Blush duo? Duo maybe (peach and scattered pink design) but blush? I think it is a pretty highlighter with a gorgeous design and breath taking shimmer. Just know what you are getting and you will love it.

Have you checked out YSL's Spring collection yet? I am pondering about probably not that pigmented, yes or no, or no or yes... Have to check it out in person. This collection is released a few days ago in US and should be in Europe very soon.
